Real Bride: Karin Murton's Tuscany Wedding

One of our brides, Karin, was recently married in the beautiful Tuscany, Italy. In this blog, Karin shares with us about the day and the amazing photos – including the beautiful Tuscany scenery!

“After 8 years of “dating”, we couldn’t think of a more perfect place, or time, to get married. Having had a love affair with Italy and the Italian language for the past 9 years, it wasn’t hard to decide that a Wedding in Tuscany would be a perfect location for us.”

"Our wedding was in Certaldo, a beautiful little ancient village near San Gimignano. We holidayed in Tuscany about 9 times and have made some really beautiful friends, who helped us make the wedding happen.

Certaldo is located in the south of Florence province, on the border with the province of Siena, very close to San Gimignano.

Like many other Tuscan towns, Certaldo is divided between its medieval walled town on a hill, and the modern residential and industrial suburb.

The charming medieval upper town is reached on foot in a few minutes or by the Funicular (cable-car) from main piazza. It’s a very quiet little village.”

Karin mentions that their friends of 30 years, who they were travelling with at the time, did not know they were getting married until the moment she got out of a little red smart car with flowers - in front of the town hall in Certaldo. "They thought we were all going to a cocktail party."

Karin’s beautiful dress was designed by Tracy – with a delicate lace bodice and silk chiffon skirt, it fitted Karin perfectly as well as suiting the relaxed wedding.

"At the top of the street is the Palazzo Pretorio 12th Century (Certaldo Wedding Hall) originally the castle of the Conti Alberti with its facade decorated with picturesque coats of arms in stone and glazed terracotta which record the Governors (Vicari) sent from Florence."

“We had some nibbles and drinks at Bar Boccaccio in Certaldo. Then went back to our most favourite place in San Gimignano  IL VICARIO and had a beautiful 5 course Italian Dinner, with typical Tuscan Wines, with our friends.”

"It's a truly stunning village and gorgeous place to have a wedding. And I felt fantastic in my gorgeous wedding dress!!!! Everything we had hoped and planned for went off picture perfectly!!!"

Thank you Karin for sharing your special day with us! Wishing you both all the very best for the future!
